Up on a cliff in a charming Long Island harbor town, this project beautifully reimagines a historic Victorian home from 1875 – seamlessly blending the elegance of the past with the functionality and aesthetics of modern design.
Before our transformative touch, the residence was in need of repair and lacked a key functionality for a modern, growing family. The new renovation created more efficient travel paths while providing the family with high-end kitchens and bathrooms – all of which strike a harmonious contrast between the old and new. Our innovative interventions to the classic home preserve many of the original Victorian architectural elements while incorporating contemporary design elements.
Preserving most of the home's historic exterior, we embraced the challenge of integrating contemporary elements within the interiors. Some classic elements like the staircase, fireplaces, and original trim details were lovingly preserved to create a playful visual contrast of old meets new.
By embracing these original features, we minimized construction waste and crafted a joyfully reimagined home that exudes character and charm.
Throughout the renovation, we considered the homeowners' love for art and music. Several spaces were meticulously planned to showcase their paintings, photographs, objects, and furnishings – resulting in a curated yet uncluttered ambiance.
Renowned brands such as Bertazzoni, SubZero, and Wolf provide high-quality appliances that combine performance and style while carefully selected materials harmoniously complement the homeowners' beloved possessions. Above, lighting fixtures from Allied Maker, Hennepin Made, and Modulightor added a touch of sophistication and warmth.
We created seamless transitions between the kitchen, living, and dining areas then wrapped this highly-functional space with custom-designed millwork. These built-in interior elements flow from highly-functional kitchen, bar, and coffee storage into display spaces for the family's cherished art and record collection.
Beyond the interior, we extended our design expertise to the outdoor spaces. A new back deck, designed with durable and beautiful materials, offers the family ample room to relax and enjoy the magnificent harbor view.
Additionally, we reimagined all of the bathrooms in the home, ensuring they exude elegance and functionality. High-quality fixtures from Zicana, Duravit, CB2, and Delta combined with exquisite finishes from Nasco, Florim, and ABC Stone created spa-like sanctuaries for the homeowners.
With meticulous attention to detail, we seamlessly blended historical charm with contemporary design elements, ensuring a home that reflects this family’s individuality to transform their space into a haven that marries modern living with timeless allure.
