Fourth Noir
This striking home, fit for Bruce Wayne’s inevitable move to the suburbs, belongs to a couple with a sharp eye and a shared love of contrast. It’s the fourth collaboration between our studio and these longtime clients — an evolution that began by designing their medical practice offices and led to creating this brand new home. This fresh chapter gave us the opportunity to focus deeply on interiors that reflect their richly layered tastes: modern, moody, and unapologetically bold. From black microcement walls to soft inviting furnishings, this home offers curated experiences tailored specifically to the rhythms and rituals of their unique family.
The formal bar room is one of the most theatrical moments in the house. Wrapped in dark tones with a wine wall and layered lighting, it channels the mood of a boutique hotel lounge. Luxe details like dark-stained floors, sculptural barstools by Norr11, and tailored lounge chairs from Tacchini anchor the space with warmth and precision. The palette here epitomizes the tone for the entire home’s bold interior direction.
In the kitchen, a pair of large islands with dark onyx vertical-grain oak cabinetry and light Caesarstone countertops create a sculptural contrast to the bright light that floods in from the rear yard. To define the home's spaces in this large open gathering space, we created a subtle shift of large-format porcelain floor tiles that give way to dark-stained oak floors as you move from kitchen to dining and living areas. The entire rear of the home is a fluid, open space designed for bringing family together, entertaining, and connecting.
Throughout the home, bathrooms were treated with the same careful consideration as the primary gathering spaces. The powder room, in particular, is designed as a tiny jewel box—intimate, intentional, and unforgettable. In the primary bath, black stone and deep wood tones continue the home’s moody material palette, with a generous soaking tub, huge walk-in shower, and meditative lighting adding a luxurious, spa-like feel.
Just beyond the open-plan interiors, oversized glass doors slide open to a clean-lined pool and expansive patio with room for everything from playing sports, swimming laps, relaxing in the hot tub, or large celebrations. Outfitted with outdoor furnishings from Harbour Outdoor, Talenti and Expormim, this private backyard feels like an extension of the interiors and is perfectly suited for company.
Positioned directly across from the kitchen and anchored by a dining room in between, the living room brings a soft counterpoint to the home’s darker materials. Bright but never stark, it’s styled in white tones and features a sleek gray stone fireplace with minimal trim, custom built-in shelving, and views out to the pool and yard. This is where the family often comes together—proof that even a high-contrast home can be warm and inviting.
