Full Serve
On a winding path thick with pines, you see the Montauk waves crashing in the distance. You feel completely immersed in the serene landscape when you arrive at a glass-wrapped ADU amidst the greenery—secluded, serene, a productive place designed for stillness and connection. But you don't stop there.
You continue down the path until the forest slopes down to reveal a hidden sports court carved into the hillside—a secret retreat for play, movement, and gathering. Here, raw concrete, dark wood, and a living green roof blur the boundary between architecture, wilderness, and athletics.
At the heart of the project is a sunken padel and pickleball court sculpted directly into the hillside. A winding natural path draws guests from the main house into the woods, gradually revealing the court below. Concrete retaining walls create a dramatic descent, while outdoor seating, an indoor lounge, and a green-roofed bathhouse offer space to unwind between matches. A nearby clearing serves as a flexible zone for yoga or open-air workouts—an adult summer playground hidden in the pines.
Farther along the path, a minimalist ADU floats among the trees. Wrapped in blackened wood and floor-to-ceiling glass, the detached workspace is designed for focus, creativity, and complete immersion in nature. Carefully placed for privacy and serenity, it offers a meditative counterpoint to the energy of the court—an environment where the landscape itself becomes the ultimate muse.
Throughout the project, the architecture defers to the land. Green roofs carry the natural topography over the structures, while a restrained material palette lets the environment take the lead. Rather than dominating the site, each building reveals it—inviting guests to slow down, wander, and reconnect with the rhythms of the seasons.
Designed as a seasonal extension of daily life, this hidden retreat offers a fresh perspective on living with the landscape. Whether it's a lively match on the court, a quiet moment at the ADU, or a slow walk along the winding trails, the experience feels both wild and intentional—a modern summer camp made for grownups.
