Spruce Box

A Restored Home for a Restorative Lifestyle

Spruce Box House is a re-envisioning of a New York home that seamlessly blends between soft, natural interiors and a warm, modern exterior. The central goal was to breathe new life into an existing residence while creating a more fluid spatial experience throughout. Focusing on key areas like entry, kitchen, living, and bathrooms, the redesign breathes new life into the space and transforms it into a haven for a family to thrive. The transformation also added features like a rear covered outdoor area, a reimagined primary bedroom suite, as well as a lounge, gym, and spa in the lower level.

A soft, natural material palette resonates throughout the new design, where warm wood tones intermingle with solid large-format stone tiles. This delicate balance of organic tones generates a serene atmosphere, uniting the home with its natural surroundings. The design emphasizes a seamless transition between the outdoor and indoor spaces, promoting a holistic living experience.

The redesigned interiors are an immersion into tranquility. The addition of spaces like a sauna and steam room enhance the calming nature of the home. It's an environment that encourages a daily retreat into serenity.

Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian aesthetics, the overall vibe is one of relaxation, sleek minimalism, and an inviting coziness—akin to the comforting concept of “hygge.”

In the family’s gathering spaces, openness took center stage. Gone are the clunky, old staircases and small, closed-off rooms. Now, key areas like the entry, kitchen, and living room become one. The new layout creates a lively flow that embraces natural light and seems to invite the young growing family to gather together.

It wasn't just about grand gestures. We also tucked away a cozy lounge for quiet escapes, carved out a spa-like space for rejuvenation, and even added a playful mudroom to greet the day's adventures. Each room, whether grand or intimate, was designed with purpose – its function carefully considered to uplift and inspire.
